How it works
A written process is what one person has instead of a certification badge.
Everything below is what actually happens on every job, in order. You are welcome to read it before committing to anything, watch any part of it, or ask for the underlying documents in advance.
The process
Six steps, and you can watch any of them.
- 01 · AgreeYou describe roughly what you have and where it is. You get back the cost, the timing, and which of the four deal models applies, in writing, before anything moves. No surprise invoices, in either direction.
- 02 · PaperA data processing agreement is signed before any equipment is touched. You are the data controller; I am the processor acting on your instructions. This is a UK GDPR requirement, not a formality, and it is the document that protects you if anyone ever asks.
- 03 · Collect and receiptI arrive, at a time you choose, and log every device by make, model and serial number at your premises. Before anything leaves the building you are handed a signed chain-of-custody receipt listing every serial. That receipt is your evidence from the moment the equipment leaves your control. It travels sealed, in a vehicle insured for goods in transit.
- 04 · DestroyDrives are either sanitised to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 and verified, or physically destroyed. That is your choice, and it is recorded on the job. Where a drive cannot be verified as sanitised, it is destroyed rather than passed on. Photographic evidence is available on request.
- 05 · Certify, after the work is doneA certificate of destruction is evidence that destruction happened, so it is issued after the work is complete and verified, never at the point of collection. You receive it within one working day, listing every device by serial number with the method used against each, plus waste transfer documentation. Where a job is collected and destroyed the same day, you get it the same day.
- 06 · RecoverWorking equipment is refurbished and resold into trade rather than shredded, which is what makes free collection possible. Anything beyond reuse goes through authorised WEEE routes. Hazardous items, batteries in particular, are moved out promptly under consignment.
Registrations
Checkable, rather than asserted.
These are registration numbers, not badges. You can verify every one of them with the issuing body, which is exactly why they are published here.
- Waste carrierRegistered upper-tier waste carrier with the Environment Agency. Registration [waste carrier registration number]. Required to lawfully transport your waste, so ask anyone who collects from you for theirs.
- Data protectionRegistered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Registration [ICO registration number]. Required because your drives contain personal data and I process it on your behalf.
- Waste exemptionT11 waste exemption held for the storage and manual dismantling of waste electrical equipment for reuse.
- InsurancePublic liability, cyber and client data liability, and goods in transit. Certificates available on request before you commit to anything.
